Alex and Emily met on the cobbled streets of Falmouth, whilst Emily was living in Cornwall and studying at Falmouth University. Complete strangers, they both spotted each other amongst the crowded high street and like magnets, found themselves drawn together. With nerves racing, Alex plucked up the courage to approach Emily and introduce himself, thankfully he discovered that she had been eyeing him up also! The pair have been together ever since, a true case of love at first site.
Within the first month of moving in together, Alex knew that Emily was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. After two and a half wonderful years together, Alex knew it was time to take the next step and ask Emily to be his wife. Despite always talking and dreaming about their perfect wedding, Emily was completely in the dark to Alex’s proposal plans and had no idea he was on a quest to find the perfect ring that she would be wearing forever – which is where we came in!
Alex found Ethica Diamonds through a simple Google Maps search of ring shops in Truro and after seeing our brilliant customer reviews, booked an appointment in our boutique showroom. Alex describes his experience of choosing a ring with us a ‘delightful process’, which is all we strive to achieve! Choosing such an important piece of jewellery should be exciting and enjoyable, and not something to be taken lightly. Alex goes on to describe Ethica Diamonds staff as ‘exceeding all my expectations, not only being extremely professional but also very friendly’ – aww thanks Alex!
Knowing he wanted something classic and timeless, Alex settled on the gorgeous Ysabel engagement ring in platinum. Ysabel is a subtle twist on an average solitaire, featuring an elegant twisted setting that secures the centre cushion cut lab-grown stone. Alex went for a 0.84 carbon neutral lab-grown diamond, perfect for his budget and ethical values, as well as having the upmost sparkle and wow factor! With the ring on order, Alex’s next mission was a trip up to Emily’s parents to ask her Father the all important question, for his daughters hand in marriage. Thankfully, it was a resounding yes! And with the parents blessing, all that was left to do was plan the proposal itself.
Being the romantic type, Alex wanted a sunset proposal and so arranged a five course (wow!) tasting menu at the House Bay Hotel in the window table overlooking the ocean. With the hotel staff in on the plans too, after their meal the pair ventured down into the beautiful gardens to watch the end of the sunset over the sea. It was then that Alex got down on one knee, revealed the ring and popped the question – to which a very surprised and delighted Emily said yes!
We are absolutely over the moon for this gorgeous pair, and so glad we could make Alex’s experience in purchasing an engagement as enjoyable as possible. The loved-up couple have wasted no time in making plans for the wedding and have put down a deposit for a reception and ceremony for the 24th September 2022, up in Emily’s hometown of Tunbridge Wells. Roll on the wedding!
Congratulations from everyone here at the Ethica Diamonds x
