Ben and Emily's whirlwind romance began with a simple swipe right on tinder, and has led them to sharing multiple life milestones together. From a magical Disney Frozen proposal, buying a house, adopting their dog Fig and having a little baby boy together, Emily and Ben haven’t wasted any time - when you know, you know! After discovering our Ethica Diamonds showroom whilst on holiday in Truro, Ben got in touch back in 2020 to create Emilys dream ring, a customised version of our Fleur halo. We caught up with Ben to find out more details about his and Emily’s beautiful love story and all details on their Disney Frozen proposal!
How long have you been together? Tell us your story
Not long in the great scheme of things. It's been a whirlwind romance, we first met in December 2020 and had bought a house and moved by August 2021. Displaying our customary restraint we adopted our dog, Fig, in December 2021. Next October, we got engaged in the Royal box at Frozen the musical (Emily used to work at disney world in Orlando and loves frozen) . As we began to plan our wedding we found out that Emily was pregnant and our beautiful little boy August came along in November 2023. We are now getting married this August and going on our honeymoon on a cruise around the Norwegian fjords - we did get engaged at frozen after all!
When did you know you wanted to get married?
Boxing day 2021 - Emily got really drunk at my mums house over Christmas with the whole family and was telling stories making everyone howl with laughter and in that moment I didn't care what anyone thought about her because I thought she was brilliant and thought 'yeah, I'm gonna marry that girl'
What made you choose Ethica Diamonds and how did you find us?
I have been on holiday to Cornwall every year since I was born! Since being with Emily we have been down together every year and decided on Ethica when we came across the shop one day whilst exploring Truro. After following you on insta and finding out you were sustainable etc it was perfect! Even better that you could make the Fleur ring with an amethyst halo for Emily as I knew she would love something with a vintage look - which she absolutely did!
What made you choose the Fleur ring and how did you find the ring purchasing process?
I knew Emily wanted something with a vintage look so I enquired about having Fleur custom designed with an amethyst halo which was done for me and looks amazing! The purchasing process was easy and amazing, I was even sent a placement ring to propose with as my custom design wasn't ready in time for our London trip.
How did you propose and did it all go to plan?
I took Emily for a birthday trip to London to watch Frozen the musical in the Royal Box. As the show ended I asked a steward to take our picture and as they put the stage lights onto us I proposed. I was soooo nervous though I forgot my lines properly but she said yes and the theatre cheered!
