Katie and Thomas's Picturesque Proposal at Elvaston Castle

Katie and Thomas's Picturesque Proposal at Elvaston Castle

Katie and Thomas's love story began as flatmates at the University of Derby. Their friendship quickly blossomed into a romantic relationship, and they've been inseparable ever since. After being together for 5 years, It was natural for them to envision their future together, and they knew that marriage was the next step in their journey. Drawn to Ethica Diamonds' commitment to sustainability and ethical practices, Katie and Thomas knew they had found the perfect partner in their quest for the perfect ring. The Fleur, with its timeless elegance and customizable options, captured their hearts and perfectly reflected their love story.

Today we caught up with Katie and Tom to find out all the details on their engagement and the beautiful story of their relationship.

How long have you been together?

We have been together almost 5 years now! We decided to start dating about a month after we met. We lived together throughout university and have been working and living in Derby together ever since.

When did you know you wanted to get married?

We have always known we wanted to get married and now we are ready to start a new chapter.

What made you choose Ethica Diamonds and how did you find us?

We found you online and appreciated the ethics behind the business and were impressed with your customer service and attention to detail!

What made you choose the Fleur ring and how did you find the ring purchasing process?

All your rings where beautiful, but picked the Fleur ring as it was both simple, feminine and timeless. Purchasing process was very easy, no hassle at all.

How did Tom propose!?

Tom had planned to propose at the Eden project on our last day of holidays but was way to crowded. So he decided to stop off at one of favourite places back home (Elvaston Castle, Derby), on the way back.

The car park was actually closed so we had to park off the side of the road and it had previously rained that day so there was many muddy puddles that Tom had to carry me over. We stopped in front of the lake with a view of the castle and Tom got down on one knee and after some teasing I said yes!

Was it a surprise?!

We had previously agreed to get married and had already done some wedding planning but the proposal itself was a surprise. It was very romantic and it was about 8 in the evening and there no one around so it was very intimate.

Have you started the wedding planning?

Yes!! Have actually already payed a deposit for May 2026 at Doddington Hall and Gardens, Lincolnshire.

Congratulations, Katie and Thomas! We at Ethica Diamonds are so thrilled to be a part of your love story and wish you a lifetime of happiness together.
