How did you both meet?
Ellie was a friend of a friend and was invited along to my 18th birthday. We became good friends for 4 years until we realised we had feelings for each other

Ellie was a single parent to a 1 year old when we realised our feelings for each other, 4 years later and we are parents to two girls Nora (5) and Penny (3)
When did you know you wanted to get married?
I always said that I wanted to be together at least 3 years before I proposed and didn’t want to get engaged just because we were parents, but because we wanted to.
What made you choose Ethica Diamonds and how did you find us?
I’m an avid vegetarian and passionate about protecting the environment, I knew that I wanted an ethical diamond so went on the look for ethical jewellers. The selling point to me was the Penelope ring as this is our daughter’s name.
What made you choose your choose the Penelope ring?
The name of the ring felt like a sign, at first I was unsure because Ellie isn’t a fan of gold jewellery but once I saw that platinum was an option I was happy.
What were your plans for the proposal and how did it all go!?
I lit a load of candles in our gazebo outside and recorded the moment I got down on one knee. As busy parents I knew that I wouldn’t be able to plan anything more elaborate so stuck to something simpler at home. She was really happy and said yes.
She was really surprised as she had been making jokes about me proposing for a while and thought that I wasn’t interested. I had also done a lot of background things that I had compiled into a video, which she was really surprised by.
Have you started planning the wedding?
Her mum is getting married next year so we’ve decided that we would make plans after that.
